It also struck me how socially relevant the lyrics still are for most of #DarkSideOfTheMoon, #Animals and of course #TheWall. I always think of #UsAndThem as an anti-war song, but it's much more panoramic with its commentary on inequality and homelessness too.

It's strange how such vehemently anti-capitalist perspectives were packaged in such a commercial wrapper.

As a teen, I loved the music and knew all the words, but I was too insulated to understand what they were saying.

Went to a bonding session for Gen X and Boomers today - the NSC Creatve show of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side Of The Moon. It was an immersive show in the surround dome of our local planetarium, where the complete album was set to mind-bending visuals of space, imagery related to the themes of the album, abstract designs and even the deep sea.

Great fun to revisit the album - and not recommended for people who suffer from motion sickness.

(A gathering of purely Gen X Dads would have been a Pearl Jam concert film.)

#PinkFloyd#DarkSideOfTheMoon (1973). If Waters doesn’t screw it up, this LP will remain an innovative space romp/ found sound/ proto-techno/ alienated/ chill out masterpiece – which regardless of having sold in ridiculous numbers, stands up beautifully despite decades of attempts by classic rock radio and the band members themselves to embalm it for the ages. If you’re bored with it, try Obscured by Clouds.
