#30DaysOfBiking Day 16:
Finally the weather and schedule cooperated for an adventure ride. So I hauled my #bicycle up to Cannon Falls and rode the Cannon Valley Trail from there to Red Wing and back for 41 miles. A fee based trail, it is very well maintained and there was almost no debris at all on the trail. It is also gorgeous, parts bluffside along the Cannon River, which with bare trees and shrubs, was a lot more visible from the trail. I did see one wildflower species in bloom.

Today's was an interesting #bicycle ride. First while a tad warmer & partly sunny, the wind was still an issue, so I only planned a 20 mi ride. Then I was asked to check out a possible detour route for an upcoming ride event. While filming, I had a near miss with a driver doing a right turn on red. Then I ran into 2 Lime scooters illegally parked in the middle of a multiuse path, which I reported to Lime. Then an occupied car parked in the bike lane. Sheesh!

Today we had late morning thundershowers (good thing, we need the rain). But in the early afternoon when I spotted blue sky to the West, I hopped on my #bicycle and rode the city trails and the Douglas State Trail for 36 miles. It turned really nice and then lots of folks were on the Douglas Trail. I was hoping to find the ephemeral woodland wildflowers near the trail. But alas we are running a week later than last spring, so maybe next weekend.

Finally a day I can do a long road ride! It was mostly sunny and warming into the 60'sF (~17C), but the wind from the South was increasing in strength. So I chose a route where the majority of the ride would be perpendicular to the wind, and that worked out pretty well. I rode my road #bicycle to Eyota, then Dover and then Chester before returning home for 42 miles. Road construction is diverting traffic onto my low traffic roads, so I may have to do trails.

I made the fortunate decision to wait until after lunch to go for a ride. It was cloudy all morning, but minutes after I started my ride, the sun came out so it was warmer and more pleasant than expected. I rode my road #bicycle out to Eyota and then up the Great River Ridge State Trail to Viola and then back home for 38 miles. There's a major Interstate/US Highway interchange closed here, and I noticed more traffic on the county roads w/ out of state plates.
